REPORT
The Queensland Open maintained its status as one of Australia's leading events by attracting more than 130 players to the Gold Coast August 5-7th. As well as the top seeded players such as Dan Jenson, Cameron Pilley, Melissa Martin and Dianne Desira, there were plenty of graded players participating including 32 players in the Men's A Grade!
The Open divisions were hotly contested with great prize money available and there were some excellent matches for spectators to watch. Several players recruited home town support crew which certainly added to the atmosphere. International players from Korea, Japan, Canada, England and Germany maintained the world wide attraction of the event and it was great for locals to compete against these players. Many interstate players also made the journey North and the weather repaid them - we had gorgeous sunshine the whole time. Where else but Queensland??
Lisa Camilleri caught the attention of the crowd when she defeated the number one seed, Melissa Martin, in the Women's Open final. Lisa was focused and played like she was on a mission to win. Number one seed Dan Jenson went down to number two seed, Cameron Pilley in the Men's Open final. Cameron has had several great wins lately and was expected to make Dan work for the title. Well done to both Lisa and Cameron for winning the Q Open titles.
We invite all players from around Australia to join us for the 2006 Q Open, so make sure you reserve your holiday time for the start of August! Have a good look at the results and photos on this report.

Regards

Lisa Walton
