EVENT REPORT
The 8th Mattioli Bros Melbourne Open was a great success attracting some of the countries best players as well as some of the World's Best and beating last year's entry level for participation. The Principal Sponsor, Mattioli Bros, was led by Adam Mattioli who attended the event on the Sunday to watch the action.

The Women's Open was the best quality competition we have had for many years with Sarah Fitz-Gerald (former 5 times world champion) and Isabelle Stoehr (World Number 11 and French National Champion) being the final favourites. Both players made their way through the draw to the finals and a great crowd came to watch the action. Isabelle played well with some great rallies taking place however Sarah was too strong and defeated Isabelle in 3 games to take the title.

The Men' Open was also excellent with Steve Robinson (defending Champion) coming back to defend his title. Jason Mudge from South Australia had other ideas and made his way through to the final to put up the challenge. With a lively dialogue to follow through the final games it was interesting to watch the match progress and Steve finally secure his second Mattioli Bros Melbourne Open.
